Easy Peasy Cheesy: Halloumi Recipe

It’s the weekend, and you have plenty of times to spend. You feel boring to binge-streaming, so you are wondering what should you do next. Then you thought cooking is nice but it could tire you out. But, have you ever thought that cooking could be done by sitting on the chair? You heard that right. Not always practically, but the notion of lounging at your house when you’re bored of take-outs and eating on a restaurant, cooking an easy recipe with Buono Cheeze (@buono.cheeze), homemade grilled cheese, halloumi would be a great start.

Halloumi is a brined cheese from an island in Greece named Cyprus—a lowland area close to the sea—and is suitable for grilling because it has a high melting point, added to the fact that it goes well with a sweet and sour taste. After discovering halloumi, Buono Cheeze learned to produce it by using a local ingredients, including the milk with 12 hours fermentation process. Here are some of the easiest homemade cheese recipes that you can try at home, fresh from the oven!

Halloumi Dipped Spicy Lemon


1 pack halloumi cheese
1 lemon
Chili powder

How to cook:

1. Cut the halloumi into rectangle shapes.
2. Put the frying pan on medium heat.
3. Grill the cheese, place it upside down until the color turns to brownish-gold.
4. Slice a lemon in two, squeeze it on a container.
5. After the cheese is done, serve it on a plate with a sprinkle of chili powder.
6. Dip it on the lemon and feel the flavor combinations.

Teriyaki Chicken with Halloumi


+/ 150 gr grilled halloumi cheese
¼ kg fillet chicken
¼ shallot chops
4 tbsp teriyaki sauce
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp margarine
1 tbsp cornstarch

How to cook:

1. Season the ¼ fillet chicken with 4 tbsp teriyaki sauce. Let it season for a half-hour.
2. Stir-fry the ¼ shallots with 1 tbsp margarine on the frying pan.
3. Put the already-seasoned fillet chicken on the pan, closed it with a lid for less than five minutes until the chicken lets out the broth.
4. Open the lid, stir the chicken and have the remaining broth for approximately 2 tbsp on the pan.
5. Mix 2 tbsp water with cornstarch.
6. Pour the cornstarch mix into the cooking, stir it fast. When it thickens, turn off the heat.
7. Put the grilled halloumi and mix it with the teriyaki chicken.
8. Serve it.

Skewered Fruit Halloumi


1 pack halloumi cheese
1 bowl of pineapples
1 bowl of cherry tomatoes

How to cook:

1. Cut the halloumi into chunks.
2. Put the frying pan on medium heat.
3. Grill the pineapples first, then cherry tomatoes, and last one for the halloumi.
4. Wait for a while after it’s cooked.
5. Line the pineapples, halloumi, and cherry tomatoes on a skewer.

Smoked Beef Halloumi


1 pack halloumi cheese
1 sheet of smoked beef

How to cook:

1. Cut halloumi vertically, also the smoked beef
2. Tie the already cut halloumi pieces with smoked beef, roll
3. Grill the tied halloumi with smoked beef on the pan
4. Ready to serve after it has turned down
